Peter Harley was appointed to Sphere as Chief Executive Officer in July 2008. He has many years experience in general management roles within the pharmaceutical, technology, FMCG, and accounting industries.
His broad experience includes global and local brand management, developing innovation programs, creating customer programs to grow category sales, business reengineering and international project management.
Peter started his professional life as a chartered accountant before moving into senior sales and marketing roles with large multinational organisations. His previous appointment was Managing Director of Olympus Imaging Australia.
Peter has set the challenge for Sphere to be Australia’s most valued, innovative and market leading healthcare contract manufacturer.
Gary SmithChief Financial Officer Gary Smith was appointed to Sphere as Chief Financial Officer in June 2008. Gary has many years experience in key financial roles and been actively involved in business transformation at a both national and international levels. ACMA Qualified and holding a BA (Hons) in Financial Accounting and Law, Gary has worked extensively on business process reengineering aimed at enhancing processes and procedures in manufacturing with companies such as Unilever and Unigate. Gary’s experience in strategic planning together with his background of logistics and supply chain management have only enhanced Sphere’s progress towards a Lean Manufacturing environment. Philip JordanManufacturing Director
Philip has been with Sphere since April 2009. Philip has 20 years experience in manufacturing including senior roles with the multinational brewer Lion Nathan. Philip is reponsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing best practice processes within the sphere production and warehousing environments . Philip has a background in engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Management Steve Ward Head of Quality Assurance & Technical Steve has been in the pharmaceutical industry since 1988, gaining years of QA supervisory experience with Stafford Miller. He then spent three years with SmithKline Beecham (formerly Sterling Winthrop) in formulation research and development roles. Steve moved into the complementary healthcare industry in 1996 when he joined Health Minders. His role evolved from QC Supervisor to Regulatory Affairs Officer, Technical Manager, and finally Operations Manager with overall responsibility for the packaging and laboratory operations. Before joining Sphere, Steve spent two years as Regional Regulatory Manager for Vita Health. He joined Sphere Healthcare in March 2004 as Technical Manager. Steve is a current member of the TASC group of the Complementary Health Care Council of Australia and also sits on the TGA/Industry Consultation Group responsible for the development of the ARGCM Guidelines. Steve is a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Australian Institute of Management. Jochen Valdeck Tech Support Manager Jochen has been in the pharmaceutical industry since 1984. He gained over 10 years of R&D experience with Schering AG in Germany before migrating to Australia in 1995. Jochen moved into the complementary healthcare industry in 1995 when he joined an emerging complementary healthcare contract manufacturer. His role evolved from Laboratory Chemist to Production Manager and Technical Manager for the herbal extraction department of the business. His experience also included extensive development of herbal liquid based formulations. Jochen joined Sphere Healthcare in March 2005 as the Liquids and Creams Department Manager being before assuming the role as Technical Support Manager in April 2009. Jochen has extensive knowledge in complementary medicine through studies for an Advanced Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine.
Linda McDonald Sales & Marketing Director Linda McDonald joined Sphere as the Sales & Marketing Director in January 2009. Linda has many years experience in senior sales and marketing roles within the pharmaceutical, retail and FMCG industries. The breadth of her experience spans across global and local brand management, the development and implementation of innovation programs leading to new product launches and developing market research to reveal consumer insights.
