Sphere’s manufacturing facilities feature a high volume state-of-the art coating plant for tablets, soft gel capsules and hard shell capsules. Coating expertise includes both film and enteric coating with a variety of commercial batch size scales possible.
Sphere’s expertise in the enteric coating of soft gel capsules is a particular highlight. Only a small, elite group of high technology international manufacturers can lay claim to this capability. Enteric coated products can provide improved therapeutic delivery by delaying dissolution of the active until it has passed from the stomach in to the lower gastrointestinal tract (GIT).
Major R&D investment underpins Sphere’s optimisation of the enteric coating process - one which consistently delivers a product with excellent enteric performance and aesthetic appearance.
The majority of coating solutions used are aqueous only, reflecting a policy of avoiding organic solvents. Sphere can modify coating solutions to include nearly any colour required (including natural colours) and is able to utilise a variety of fragrance options for pleasant organoleptic results.
