Infant Milk Formulation

Infant
(0-6 months)

Also referred to as Step 1/Starter.

The formula is normally based on whey of cow's milk as it is found to be easier to digest. Normally 60% Whey and 40% casein as a source of protein, a blend of Vegetable Oils as a source of healthy fats , Lactose as a source of carbohydrate and a premix of essential vitamins and minerals. These are termed as essential ingredients.

Infant formula brands can also contain other ingredients which are termed optional ingredients e.g. Nucleotides, L-Carnitine, DHA, AA, lactoferrin, luetin etc that are known to provide additional benefits to infants. 

Follow On Formula
(6-12 months)

Also referred to as Step 2.

The follow on formula compared to Infant has a higher percentage of casein than whey as a source of protein and contains blend of Vegetable Oils as a source of fat , Lactose as a carbohydrate source along with premix of essential vitamins and minerals. These are termed as essential ingredients

The formula for this stage contains more protein, Calcium, Iron etc to assist with growing infants.

Optional ingredients e.g. Nucleotides, L-Carnitine, DHA,AA, Lactoferrin, Luetin, GOS,FOS etc that are known to provide additional benefits to growing infants are also added.

Toddler Formula
(12-36 months)

Also referred to as Step 3.

The Toddler formula is very similar to follow on/stage two but with higher levels of protein, energy, fat and other essential vitamins and minerals needed for a more active 1 year old plus.

Optional ingredients e.g. Nucleotides, L-Carnitine, DHA, AA, Lactoferrin, Luetin, GOS,FOS etc that are known to provide additional benefits to growing toddlers are also added
